Several breeds of sheep are to be found in this area of Lancashire. Swaledales are particularly hardy and when bred with Blue Faced Leicesters almost always guarantee two lambs. Although these first two are not noted for their meat content, when bred with the fatter Texels, produce butchers lambs- enough said!
